Introducing Change

Introducing Change

Introducing Change –

The natural response to change is resistance. Introduce change by anticipating resistance. Formulate way to overcome it.

Eight ideas to increase success include:

  1. Involve people in the planning process as soon as possible.  Participation leads to commitment.
  2. Explain the change and why it’s necessary.
  3. Highlight the benefits of the change to the individual(s).
  4. Show how the change will affect the individual(s).
  5. Share the careful considerations you have made before making the decision..
  6. Ask for their concerns first.
  7. Ask for their questions second.
  8. Ask for support, i.e. “Can I count on you to make this change?”
