  1. Recognize that conflicts need time to reach resolution.
  2. Take time to make decisions.
  3. Find shared interests or goals.
  4. Listen to the intent of the message; refrain from judging the delivery
  5. Stay unemotional, fact focused, problem-solving.
  6. Repeat the important points they share to show them you understand them.
  7. Check their understanding by asking them to repeat what you’ve said.
  8. Look for middle ground.
  9. Ask “What would it take to resolve this?”
  10. Brainstorm possible solutions to resolve area of difference.
